U13s Report

A 9 man Crosshaven team faced 11 of Corinthian A’s this morning in the U13’s league. Crosshaven were shook early with Corinthians having most of the ball in the first 5 minutes rounded off with a goal past Brian Lucey who stepped up to the plate with both keepers unavailable. This seemed to awaken the lads as they found another gear and pushed back hard. With Brian and the defence working hard throughout, a few close misses by striker Rhys Kelly-Noonan and a great save by the oppositions keepers saw the lads trail 1-0 at half time. With the 9 men starting to tired as the game went on, a few laps in concentration and simply being outnumbered saw Corinthians score 2 goals within 10 minutes of the restart to make the score 3-0.
Our lads never gave up with the defense of Joe Wilson, Liam Maguire and Evan Canty holding strong, Shay Murphy, Fionn Mansfield, Owen O’Halloran and Adam Gumley in midfield fighting for everything and Rhys chasing down every ball, they kept going until the final whistle.
Coaches and parents left the pitch very proud of how the team played and hopefully the lads will keep up their heads up as the score doesn’t reflect how hard they fought but it’s always a difficult task when numbers are down.
